why would you get in trouble? They dont even know its you. Dont worry about it, i doubt its a crime

If you tell the machine owner about it, maybe. otherwise, only you will come out wiser. If you don’t do it again, then it did you some good.
They are accustomed to vandalism and attempted theft of merchandise, and take things being stuffed into the coin slot in stride.
They don’t like it, but it is a fact of the vending machine business.

I work for a vending company - if you only stuck one in there it will be chalked up to “user error.” When you need to worry is when you use multiple fakes - that will often get a call to the Secret Service to let them know there is something going on.

Your conscience is killing you because you were dishonest. Children do that sort of thing all the time. You’ve learned your lesson–that vending machines won’t give you something for free when using a fake coin. Just don’t let it happen again!
